Luis Leon Sanchez has somewhat saved the honor for his team Rabobank. The Spaniard won Sunday’s fourteenth stage of the Tour de France by reaching the town of Foix as the first one of a group of attackers.
The Dutch formation was in recent weeks significantly affected by crashes and thus could not live up to the expectations. Robert Gesink and Bauke Mollema were aiming to do well in the general classification, but are already at home. At the moment Rabobank is in the race with only four riders.
Despite dozens of flat tires in the group of favorites, nobody lost time. Yellow jersey wearer Bradley Wiggins neutralized the course on his own, which kept the top of the standings unchanged.
